salvatore ferragamo fetes its latest fragrance attimo with a late night romp at top of the standard

Last night all of New York’s pretty young things headed to the Top of the Standard’s pool room and recently opened rooftop to fete Salvatore Ferragamo’s newest fragrance, Attimo. The fragrance is chock full of floral notes including Nashi pear, kumquat, lotus flower, gardenia, frangipani, peony, musk, cedar and patchouli.  So while certainly perfect for summer, the musk and cedar give it a great touch of sensuality, a mood that last night’s party definitely captured. The name of the fragrance translates to mean the instant or the moment Massimiliano Giornetti, Ferragamo’s Creative Director, told me. And there is certainly no better way to live in the moment, then to celebrate with a great party. The downstairs space was decorated in rich red tones and candles, and the Standard’s infamous pool had been drained, filled with flowers and covered with glass. A disco ball hung overhead. It had that requisite 1970s Milan discoteque feel that made me wish I was wearing Halston. Upstairs on the roof, a bed complete with sheets had been set up and two models with that dishevled bed head look were happily posing for Patrick McMullan photogs. My party companion and I contemplated what kind of gumption it takes to get naked at a party, but ultimately decided the $1,500 dollars or so they were probably getting paid was more then enough to warrant sitting on a bed for a couple of hours.

We then settled onto a raw silk covered ottoman and took in the glorious views while playing our favorite party game, who is best dressed. I have to give my vote to Dree Hemingway (granddaughter of Ernest), who was fittingly wearing Salvatore Ferragamo and is also fronting the Attimo campaign. Other top contenders were Agyness Deyn who was sporting a new buzz cut (the talk of the party) and Massimiliano Giornetti (Ferragamo’s creative director not to mention one of the nicest people in fashion!) After the party I headed back to my apartment for a romp in my own bed, unfortunately alone. Hopefully some of the other party guests fared better.
