paris haute couture tip sheet–fall 2010 collections
I’m off to Paris for the haute couture shows on Sunday (basically fashion fantasy land). Here is a list of the five things I am most looking forward to this season. And if you are on your way to Paris too, I would love to hear from you tout de suite!
1. Givenchy and the label’s designer Riccardo Tisci are bidding good bye to the runway this season. Clients and editors will instead be going on individual appointments at a Place Vendome townhouse beginning July 6th. Considering Givenchy was the highlight of the last couture season expect this to be good. And I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the special “clients” making an appearance this season is Ciara–she can’t seem to get enough of Givenchy. The presentation will include live models, mannequins and a look book featuring Lara Stone. Another piece of information that Tisci has already let slip, he’s not using black this season.
2. There are more reasons then ever to head to concept store powerhouse Colette this season. On July 5th model Lily Cole is launching her new North Circular knitwear label (eco-friendly to boot!) The same day New York based scribe Derek Blasberg and his book Classy are being toasted at the store by Milla Jovovich. Expect some of Blasberg’s famous friends to be there, not to mention tons of New York transplants.
3. In other party news Isabella Rossellini is feting her new handbag made in conjunction with Bulgari on July 7th at the label’s Avenue George V flagship. The handbag, aptly called “The Rossellini” will be available in four colors and will be lined in fabric printed with a snail motif.
4. Jean Paul Gaultier is debuting two limited edition pieces from his capsule collection with La Perla during his July 7th show, being held in his 3rd arrondissement atelier. I mean the man designed Madonna’s infamous cone bra, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with. When the La Perla/Gaultier collection launches in stores prices will be between $600 and $1,200.
5. Off of the official Syndicate Chamber of Parisian Couture schedule, no one’s show is getting more buzz than Christophe Lemaire. Lemaire is currently the creative director at Lacoste and is soon to be the ready-to-wear designer at Hermès. Lemaire is showing right before Giorgio Armani Privé on July 6th–the big leagues.
