prada fetes its swing sunglasses with a jazz age fete
On the heals of a 1950s inspired fall 2010 collection, Prada is launching a new pair of sunglasses aptly called called ‘Swing.’ They are cat-eye librarian chic at its best. To toast the sunglasses (hey sunglasses deserve a toast!) Prada hosted a bash at Joe’s Pub. Models floated about dressed to the nines in printed wide-wasted skirt dresses, 60s beehives and pointy toe kitten heels. Let me just say, after this party I am ready to retire my summer maxi dresses and jumpers for fall’s chunky knits, brocade coats and nouveau poodle skirts. German punk singer Nina Hagen brought down the house performing Summertime and Angela Lindvall wandered about air kissing her way through the crowd (she’s starring in the Prada fall 2010 campaign). It was the perfect jazz age evening, which made me truly believe “And the livin’ is easy.”
The sunglasses, priced at $245, will be available in October. You’ll have to wait till then to get in the swing of things.
