christian siriano does drama and tulle for spring 2011


Christian Siriano is a rare bread of designer–a celebrity from his Project Runway days he has managed to transcend his fame with a strong point of view. This show was influenced by African, Indian and Chinese apparel. There were cocktail dresses that would look good on the everywoman and major jaw dropping gowns that are screaming for an editorial. Siriano is still collaborating with Payless this season, shoes that were shown on the runway will be reconfigured for a mass audience.

trina turke visits palm beach for spring 2011


Trina Turke took us on a trip this season to Palm Beach. The collection had that perfect mod beach summer vibe and was staged in various staged rooms. There was the bedroom, living area, playroom complete with backgammon and a bar area. The colors and prints were of course fabulous (this is why women love Trina) and is making pine for the return of summer–or at least a trip to the Breakers in Palm Beach.

richard chai love spring 2011–transparency, neutrals and lots of layering


Richard Chai kicked off fashion week with a light and ethereal show. There were washed silks, matte leather and linen dresses and perfectly cut trench coats that I adored. Chai also introduced a sheer nude nylon body stocking slouchy legging layered throughout the show. The jury is still out on the sheer pants, would you wear them? All in all it was a great show, with some wonderful pieces. And I was sitting right behind Bill Cunningham, what could be better?
