view from the front row’s people, places and things that mattered in 2010: erdem
View From the Front Row will be highlighting the people, places and things that mattered in 2010 in food, fashion and design picked by our editors and contributors. Weigh in in the comments section, what made your 2010 list?
I have been in love with Erdem for years. Erdem Moralioglu’s romantic, colorful and wearable clothing feel inspired in a sea of unoriginal fashions, yet I’ve always felt the designer was destined for unrecognized glory in the crowded British marketplace. That all changed this past summer when Vogue editor Anna Wintour sported an Erdem dress and immediately catapulted the label into the spotlight. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy for a designer to gain such immediate exposure and praise. 2010 was also a year of collaborations for Erdem including with leather goods brand Smythson and London department store Liberty. The label’s Spring 2011 collection did not disappoint (think lace, florals and tea dresses) and has already been spotted on a slew of starlets including budding fashionista Michelle Williams. The label keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for its future.
