Coco Chanel, Bridget Bardot, Jane Birkin and Emmanuelle Alt are just a few examples past and present of iconic fashion mavens who have chosen to regularly sport a classic striped tee. And now the fashion set in ‘La La Land’ is following suit. Preferably made by Saint James (pictured above, $90, saintjamesboutique.com) or A.P.C., the striped tee can be worn an infinite number of ways. Girls in LA are wearing them with tailored suits and black Christian Louboutin pumps to the office. On a Friday evening at Soho House in Beverly Hills they are pairing stripes with black leather shorts and a shoe boot worn with bare legs to show off their Palm Springs tan. And on the weekend when strolling along Beverly Boulevard or grabbing brunch at Joan’s on Third stripes are out in full force paired with casual classics such as Superga Plimsolls and cuffed boyfriend jeans. If you are trying to build a closet that will have staying power take inspiration from this growing LA trend and jump on the stripes bandwagon. It’s a fashion must at the moment.
